Natural Looking Smile Makeover for Colorado Springs Patients

A smile makeover is a series of procedures that can be used to improve the look and feel of your smile. A natural looking smile makeover gives you the confidence to show off your beautiful teeth while still maintaining a natural appearance. In this blog post, we’ll discuss how a dentist in Colorado Springs can help you achieve a natural looking smile makeover.

Achieving a natural-looking smile makeover has many benefits, both cosmetic and functional. With a natural-looking smile makeover, you can:
• Boost self-confidence – A great-looking smile helps boost your self-esteem and makes it easier to talk to new people or take on new challenges.
• Achieve better oral health – A smile makeover often includes treatments that are designed to improve oral hygiene and reduce the risk of tooth decay or gum disease. This can help you maintain healthier teeth and gums for years to come.
• Get whiter teeth – Many patients opt for whitening treatments as part of their smile makeover in order to achieve brighter, whiter teeth that look more youthful and vibrant.
• Improved dental function – Restorative treatments such as dental crowns or bridges may be included in your natural looking smile makeover in order to restore damaged teeth or fill gaps between them. This can help improve the way your mouth functions when speaking, chewing, or biting down on food. \
The Process of Getting a Natural Looking Smile Makeover in Colorado Springs The process of receiving a natural looking smile makeover begins with an initial consultation with your dentist. During this appointment, they will examine your mouth and evaluate the condition of your teeth and gums before determining which treatments will be necessary for achieving optimal results. From there, they will create an individualized treatment plan tailored specifically to meet your needs and goals. Once all necessary preparations have been made, they will begin performing the treatments needed for completing the procedure in stages until the desired outcome has been achieved. Throughout each stage of treatment, they will monitor progress closely in order to ensure optimal results are being achieved safely and effectively throughout each step of the process.
Conclusion:
A natural looking smile makeover can greatly improve both the aesthetics and functionality of your teeth while also boosting self-confidence levels significantly. Repairing Chipped and Worn Teeth with Cosmetic Dentistry

A healthy, beautiful smile is something that many of us strive for. Not only does a great smile have aesthetic value, but it also contributes to our overall self-confidence. Unfortunately, over time, our teeth can begin to show signs of wear and tear that can affect both their appearance and functionality. Thankfully, cosmetic dentistry offers a variety of solutions for repairing chipped or worn teeth. Let’s take a look at the various cosmetic dentistry options available for restoring your smile.

Dental Bonding

Dental bonding is a fast and cost-effective way to repair minor chips or cracks in the teeth. During this procedure, your Colorado Springs Dentist will apply a composite resin to the damaged area before sculpting it into shape and hardening it with an ultraviolet light or laser. Once hardened, the resin will be polished until its color matches the surrounding teeth. The natural style smile makeover usually takes about 30 minutes per tooth and can last anywhere from 3 to 10 years depending on your lifestyle habits like smoking or drinking coffee.

Veneers

Veneers are thin shells made of porcelain that are bonded directly onto the front surface of your teeth to improve their appearance. Unlike dental bonding which simply repairs chips or cracks on the surface of your teeth, veneers offer a more comprehensive cosmetic dentistry solution for correcting damage caused by wear and tear as well as discoloration due to aging or staining from food/drinks like coffee or wine. Veneers are also highly resistant to future wear and tear which makes them an ideal long-term solution for many patients looking to restore their smiles.

Dental Crowns

Denta crowns are another type of restoration option used when more extensive damage has been done to one or more teeth due to wear, decay, cracking, etc. While crowns are not typically used as a cosmetic enhancement like veneers or dental bonding, they do serve an important role in restoring structural integrity (functionality) while also improving overall aesthetics. Crowns are typically made out of either porcelain fused onto metal alloy (PFM) or all-porcelain materials depending on the amount of visible damage present in the tooth being restored as well as other factors determined by your dentist during your consultation visit(s).

Caring For our Teeth As We Age

You’re never too old for a smile makeover! Just because you’ve neglected your teeth for a few decades doesn’t mean it’s too late to turn things around. In fact, getting a smile makeover after the age of 40 can be even more important than if you had gotten one earlier in life.

Here’s why taking care of our teeth as you age matters:

Your teeth are not as strong as they once were. Unfortunately, our teeth tend to get weaker and more brittle as we age. This is due to a number of factors, including changes in oral bacteria, decreased saliva production, and even simply the wear and tear that comes with using your teeth day in and day out for decades. As a result, older adults are more susceptible to tooth decay and gum disease.

Your smile is one of the first things people notice about you. First impressions are important, no matter how old you are. In fact, studies have shown that people form judgments about others within seconds of meeting them—and a large part of those judgments is based on appearance. If you’re looking to make a good impression, whether it’s on a date or at a job interview, you need to have a smile that looks its best.

The Mouth-Body Connection

You want to stay healthy and independent for as long as possible. Maintaining good dental health is important for overall health and well-being. Poor oral health has been linked with an increased risk of heart disease, stroke, diabetes, and even dementia. So if you’re looking to stay healthy into your golden years, taking care of your teeth should be a top priority.

No matter how old you are, it’s never too late to take care of your teeth! Getting a smile makeover after the age of 40 can be especially important due to the increased risk of tooth decay and gum disease that comes with age. Plus, having a healthy and dazzling smile can help you make good impressions and stay independent well into your later years. So don’t wait—if you’re over 40 and thinking about getting a smile makeover, now is the time! Contact your Colorado Springs Dentist today to schedule a consultation.

Invisalign Tips From Your Dentist in Colorado Springs

Millions of people have been able to overcome their orthodontic issues with Invisalign. With Invisalign, pressure is applied to your teeth through a series of clear plastic aligners, and they are progressively shifted into appropriate alignment, resulting in a straight, even smile you can be proud of. Below, our cosmetic dentist in Colorado Springs shares our Invisalign Tips.

Wear Your Aligners

The most common error is just failing to wear your aligners on a regular basis. So, the idea is to try to obtain as close to 22 hours each day as possible. Our dentist in Colorado Springs explains that if you keep your aligners out for too long, the treatment process may be prolonged. Or, results may be hampered. Thus, wear your aligner trays as much as possible during the first two days. We advise only removing them just to brush and floss your teeth.

Replace Your Aligners on Schedule

Our dentist office in Colorado Springs will offer you a schedule for changing your aligners and the sequence in which they should be replaced. Typically, each set is worn for two weeks. We advise against attempting to speed up your treatment by moving to the following set of aligners too soon, since this may result in a longer overall treatment term.

Protect Your Tongue

Sores are frequent early in the journey and at the start of new tray cycles. This is due to the plastic edges of your clear aligners, but your mouth will toughen up. Additionally, to hasten this toughening, we recommend using Invisalign wax to cover sharp edges and rough regions. Below, our Invisalign Colorado Springs experts share this method:

  • First, take a small pinch of wax.
  • Then, roll it between your fingers into a shape.
  • Next, apply it to the hot areas.
  • Lastly, if your retainers have a particularly rough or jagged region that wax cannot conceal, you may need to have your dentist in Colorado Springs file them down for you.

A bottle of peroxide-based mouthwash is also an excellent idea to keep in your medical cabinet. It is carefully created to heal minor oral irritations during orthodontic treatment. Thus, it relieves teeth and gum pain with a refreshing, frothy effect that works. You’ll be pleased you did if you keep a bottle in your medicine cabinet!

Address Any Discomfort

Invisalign may cause discomfort in their teeth and jaws due to it. Clear aligners work by forcing your teeth into their proper position. Our friend, Dr. Kacos, best dentist in Shreveport LA, shares that he advises his patients to undertake chewing exercises several times a day and every time they replace their trays. These exercises not only seat your trays and help them “track” according to your treatment plan, but they can also provide Invisalign pain relief.

Chewing offers a pleasant massage effect for your gums, promoting nutrient-rich blood flow to your mouth. Increased blood flow helps as a natural pain reliever, and chewing activities assist your trays in fitting snugly for optimal tooth mobility.

Safely Remove Your Clear Aligners

When you remove your invisible braces with our favorite aligner removal tool, stay safe and sanitary. The intentional design, small enough to fit in your retainer case, so you always have it handy, also makes it simple to use.

Contact Kissing Camels Today for Invisalign Treatment

Lastly, it’s crucial to know that Invisalign is less capable of treating major issues with your teeth’s alignment and jaw position. Thus, it may not be the ideal option if you have highly crooked and crowded teeth. Or, if you have major bite difficulties. As a result, for these severe orthodontic difficulties, traditional braces may be required.

To find out if you are a good candidate for Invisalign treatment depending on your orthodontic needs, schedule a consultation with us. Our specialists can analyze your mouth. Then, we will determine if Invisalign orthodontic treatment is correct for you.

Smile Goals

Smile Goals

It’s that time of year again, and we’re thinking about setting new goals for the next year like we do every year. We’ve all tried it, and we’ve all had varying degrees of success. This year, Kissing Camels Family Dentistry, Colorado Springs dentist, has put up a list that you will want to treasure. So keep that lovely and cheerful grin on your face by reading these 10 smile goals for the new year from cosmetic dentist 80907!

Smile Goals for the New Year

Oral hygiene is vital for general health, and oral health problems may harm your overall health. And, of course, proper oral hygiene is only achievable if you follow a healthy oral hygiene practice. The following list from the best dentist in Colorado Springs, explains ten critical modifications you may make to your regular dental care regimen to gain significant benefits. Congratulations if you’ve already started following them. Dr. Boals, CO Springs family dentist, urges you to start now!

#1 Brush Regularly

Brushing your teeth regularly is number one on the list of smile resolutions. While everyone understands the necessity of cleaning their teeth, knowing when, how frequently, and for how long is crucial. Therefore, brush your teeth after each meal if at all feasible.

If brushing your teeth after each meal is not feasible, thoroughly rinse your mouth to ensure that no food particles remain in your mouth. Bacteria may develop on the leftover food particles, causing foul breath and other dental health concerns such as cavities. Another facet of brushing is the length of time you brush. The most vital component to consider is how you brush and how long you brush for. It would be best if you did not rush brushing, and it should take at least 2 minutes to finish.

#2: Invest in High-Quality Items

We’re all aware of the many sorts, flavors, and colors of toothpaste on the market. Most of them also have that one component that sets them apart from the competition. The same may be said about toothbrushes. Electric, battery-operated, disposable, natural, and other types are available in various sizes and styles. Now it’s up to you to locate exactly what you’re looking for – something that will meet your oral hygiene needs. While much of what is available on the market will work for you, speaking with your dentist may be beneficial. Your dentist is familiar with your oral health situation and can propose the best option for your dental care.

#3: It’s All About the Food

Your diet has an influence on your oral health and is crucial to maintaining your teeth healthy and your smile looking great. Certain foods may erode the enamel of your teeth and cause cavities. High-sugar foods raise the risk of developing new cavities and exacerbate existing ones. Carbonated beverages, such as soda, may potentially harm your teeth. Coffee and tea, for example, may change the color of your teeth and make them seem less dazzling. It’s worth noting that some of these foods may potentially have negative health consequences. While we don’t recommend fully avoiding certain foods, limiting your intake will have long-term health advantages.

#4: Maintaining A Healthy Lifestyle Pays Off in the Long Term

Certain behaviors might have a detrimental influence on your dental and general health. For example, one of the primary causes of mouth cancer is smoking and chewing tobacco. As you are surely aware, these practices may lead to a variety of health problems. Stay away from tobacco and smoking products, as any medical practitioner would suggest. The darkening of teeth is one of the less damaging outcomes of these practices. These stains may be removed, and the brightness of your smile restored thanks to advances in teeth whitening treatments like Zoom.

#5: Floss Like You’re Concerned

Brushing your teeth cleans the surface of your teeth. Floss is an important tool for keeping your teeth and gums healthy, according to the American Dental Association (ADA). Cleaning between teeth eliminates plaque from regions that a toothbrush can’t reach, which may contribute to cavities or gum disease. Food particles lodged between the teeth and gums are impossible to remove with a toothbrush. This is when floss comes in handy.

When it comes to keeping your teeth and gums healthy, flossing is just as essential as brushing.

Food particles caught between teeth may aid bacteria development, resulting in gum disease, plaque accumulation, and poor smell. So when it comes to flossing, there should be no question. Flossing is a good way to keep your teeth and gums healthy. And your grin remains unblemished.

#6: Include Mouthwash Daily

Mouthwash is an excellent supplement to your everyday brushing regimen. There are many different types on the market, and your dentist can help you pick one that will work best for you based on your current dental health. Mouthwash can brighten your smile while also killing germs that may cause foul breath. Mouthwash can reach every nook and cranny of the mouth, flushing away any residual food particles and leaving you with a clean, fresh sensation.

#7: Stay Hydrated

Drinking water to stay hydrated provides a variety of health advantages. Keeping your body hydrated benefits your skin, eliminates waste, keeps you cool, improves digestion, and the list goes on and on. When it comes to oral health, water aids in the formation of saliva as well as the removal of food particles from the mouth after a meal.

Regularly drinking water might help you prevent harmful seeking alternatives such as soda or other unhealthy foods. Overall, being hydrated improves your health and appearance.

#8: Get Your Routine Cleanings

Dr. Beth Herko, dentist New Providence NJ, states cleaning your teeth on a regular basis may help you avoid dental problems and prevent current ones from worsening or spreading. Treating any oral health problem early on will be a far less painful, quicker, and less costly experience. As oral health problems worsen, they may become more painful and possibly result in the loss of permanent tooth structure. Even if you follow a solid daily oral care practice, having your teeth cleaned by a professional on a regular basis may help keep your teeth as healthy and white as they should be. While each person’s necessary number of visits per year will vary, your dentist may work with you to determine the appropriate frequency.

#9: Be Your Own Expert

It’s a good idea to have a clear awareness of your dental health situation. Examine your mouth routinely as part of your daily health care regimen, and if you see anything unusual, contact your dentist.

#10: Maintain Your Dental Appointments

The frequency with which one should see the dentist is determined by one’s dental health and general health history. Once your dentist is aware of your oral health condition and oral care needs, he or she will be able to advise you on how many visits per year would be optimal. Also, take advantage of these opportunities to learn more about your dental health. Finally, ask your dentist any questions you have, and he or she will gladly answer them.

Strengthen Your Smile With Porcelain Veneers

Strengthen Your Teeth With Porcelain Veneers - colorado springs

Strengthen Your Smile With Porcelain Veneers

Why You Should Strengthen Your Smile With Porcelain Veneers

When you hear about cosmetic dentistry, you often hear about the wonderful smile transformations. Patients can improve the appearance of their smile with so many different cosmetic dentistry options. Porcelain veneers are easily one of the most popular, and for a good reason. So, why porcelain veneers? Well, they offer so many benefits, and the patients can achieve their smile goals. Kissing Camels Family Dentistry is happy to help you decide which option is best for you. In this article, our Colorado Springs dentists share why you should strengthen your teeth with porcelain veneers

Porcelain Veneers

Patients love coming to our dental office in Colorado Springs because our veneers are porcelain. This not only strengthens your teeth but also gives you a cohesive-looking smile. You can choose the size, shape, and color of your veneers. Patients who have significantly stained front teeth, gaps, and chips in their teeth may be candidates for porcelain veneers. Porcelain veneers may also go on after root canals.

Root Canals

Patients who require root canals on their front teeth frequently experience dental damage. Trauma to the tooth raises the likelihood of a root problem in the future. Regrettably, dentists cannot foresee when a patient will require root canal therapy. Our dentists usually use dental crowns to replace teeth that have received root canal therapy, but front teeth are a little different. When a front tooth requires a root canal, the entire crown of the tooth does not need to be replaced. The downside with this method is that the enamel often fades away, leaving the tooth practically transparent. Enamel wears down to the point that the tooth chips or even breaks in patients who have undergone root canals on their front teeth. Additionally, patients who clench or grind their teeth are also more likely to damage their front teeth. Veneers are the most effective technique to restore function and attractiveness to your front teeth.

How Porcelain Veneers Work

Dr. Cody Boals and Dr. Alexa Johnson can complete your veneers in two simple appointments. To make the restoration fit naturally, they first prepare the teeth by removing a little piece of the enamel. They take impressions for the permanent restoration after they have prepared the teeth. The permanent veneers are subsequently applied by bonding the restorations to the teeth. Your new teeth will seamlessly blend in with your natural teeth. Our friend, Dr. Kacos, a dentist in Shreveport, LA, points out that porcelain veneers cannot stain. So, you can achieve a bright, beautiful smile for many years to come!

Other Advantages of Porcelain Veneers

  • Stronger Teeth – The most significant advantage for patients with weak enamel is that veneers strengthen the teeth. You can avoid having damaged teeth when you choose to strengthen your teeth with porcelain veneers.
  • Veneers Are a Great Investment – Although veneers can be pricy, they last for a very long time. Veneers can last from 10-20 years, depending on if you take care of them.

Invisalign vs. Braces

Invisalign vs. Braces - Colorado Springs Co

Invisalign vs. Braces

Comparing Invisalign vs. Braces in Colorado Springs

For many years, traditional metal braces have been used to correct teeth. However, Invisalign clear aligners have become very popular. Invisalign aligners are more expensive than traditional braces, but because they provide key benefits, traditional braces do not offer. Our Colorado Springs dentists offer Invisalign or Clear Correct aligners at our dental office. In this article, we compare the pros and cons of Invisalign vs. braces.

Invisalign vs. Braces: Which is Better?

Many people who are considering orthodontic treatment wonder if Invisalign works as well as traditional braces. Invisalign has been successfully straightening smiles for over 20 years. As more advanced dental technology continues to come out, Kissing Camels Family Dentistry can solve about 95% of dental problems just by using Invisalign. As we mentioned before, traditional braces are the more affordable option. Additionally, our friend Dr. Beth Herko, a dentist in New Providence, NJ, points out that some patients are not the right candidate for Invisalign or braces. You can always set up a virtual dental consultation with one of our doctors. We will help you decide which treatment is best for you.

Advantages of Invisalign

At Kissing Camels Family Dentistry, the benefits of Invisalign outweigh those of traditional braces. Some of these advantages include:

  • Subtle treatment.
  • No brackets or wires are needed.
  • Easily removable for eating, drinking, and brushing teeth.
  • There are no dietary restrictions during therapy.
  • Custom aligners are more comfortable.

Brace Advantages

  • Fixes all dental imperfections
  • There are several to pick from, including lingual and ceramic.
  • Customization for brackets and bands.

Cons of Invisalign

  • Invisalign transparent aligners are a commitment. Patients must wear their aligners for 22 hours a day until treatment is over.
  • If aligners are not properly cared for, they can be lost.
  • Only approximately 5% of severe cases can be treated (but can correct more than 95 percent )

Braces Drawbacks

  • When speaking, smiling, or taking photographs, braces are very evident.
  • Brushing and flossing properly is tough, which can result in stains and other oral hygiene difficulties.
  • There are a variety of food restrictions, including popular snacks such as popcorn, chewing gum, and hard candies.
  • Require frequent visits to the dentist
  • Broken brackets and other mishaps necessitate further orthodontist visits.
  • Furthermore, patients may cut their mouths on their brackets when doing activities.

Tell Us a Little About Yourself

“My name is Samuel McNamee. I currently work for an agency that does customer service work for one of the largest tech companies in the world.

What Are Your Hobbies and Passions?

When I have free time, I love to go hiking, rock climbing, camping, just being outside all the time. You could say that I’m a woods type of person. I also like to make music and being on stage. I like to be able to entertain people. At the end of the day, if I can bring a smile to somebody’s face that’s, that’s powerful to me. This is why I think that’s why this experience has been so great for me as well.

What Inspires Your Passion for Music?

Music has been inspiring me since I was a kid. My buddy and I used to live in a very small town called Rye. There’s not a lot to do out there, no shops or businesses. So, you had to make your fun. He used to have a guitar, and I would write lyrics. We started this in elementary school. He still has sheets of paper of the songs I wrote back then. Music has been something I’ve always wanted to pursue and follow. It’s kind of my heart, I guess, in the world or the way that I can express myself.

What Do You Value Most and Why?

People, I would say that I value people. Even the people who have hurt you or betrayed you or somebody who said something snide to or let you down. You can learn a lot from that and better yourself from it. And then the people who show you love and try to respect and are there for you give you something to look forward to every day.

So, you know, when I wake up, I think it’s the very first thing that I look forward to personally is having to interact with people for the day and, overall, learn from all of the experiences that surround me.

What Made You Choose Kissing Camels Family Dentistry?

So I went to a few different Colorado Springs dental offices before. I’m going to be honest. You know, like I kind of conned into a couple of places. I came in, and my teeth were pretty bad and, it felt like there was nothing I could do about it.

I wanted to get dentures, and it seemed like every place that I called tricked me into getting a consultation or evaluation. Many of them would say that they would be able to do oral surgery onsite and then also be able to, you know, do dentures onsite. Nobody was really honest. If they were honest with me and they would’ve just said like, oh no, we don’t do that onsite. I would have been fine with that. I think it’s the fact that they misled me to get me in their door. The atmosphere is everything to me. So I, I tried it, you know, several places. And when I came into Kissing Camels Family Dentistry, the music was the first thing that caught my ear actually.

I was like, wow, this is something that I listened to. It’s actually really neat. Before I even knew that I was going to restorative dentistry, I was committed here at Kissing Camels because the staff has been so amazing, so wonderful. Think communicating very well, and they make sure you feel comfortable with what their game plan is. If you want to make adjustments to the game plan, they’re open to talking about it with you. So, you feel involved with the process. Again that no bad remarks about anywhere else I went previously. This environment and the way that they cared for me have been the best.”

Smile Makeover Giveaway: Part Two

Our Colorado Springs community means the world to us. We love supporting local businesses and providing our patients with the best dental services in Colorado Springs. This year, we wanted to do something extra special and provide one patient with a smile makeover giveaway of their dreams. We chose a local named Sam! His smile makeover journey is extraordinary. Below, we give you a quick update on Sam’s smile. Here’s Sam’s Smile Makeover Giveaway: Part Two.

Update from Our Colorado Springs Dentists

Our Kissing Camels Family Dentistry team is super excited to start Sam’s treatment. We’re going to be taken care of his cavities. He’s got a lot of dark spots, a lot of decay on his teeth. We’re also going to be taking care of his gum disease. He’s got periodontal disease, which is when you have an infection in your gums. Periodontal disease destroys the foundation of your teeth.

So we’re going to get his gums nice and healthy. Once we get everything cleaned up, get his infection gone, we can move on to step two. We want his foundation to be strong before we work on the aesthetics of his smile. Step two will include cosmetic dentistry, so dental veneers, teeth whitening, Invisalign, etc. We’re super excited to show you how he looks after we clean everything up. Watch the video below to watch Sam’s experience.

Before Sam’s Periodontal Treatment

As you can see, Sam is very eager to get started on the next phase of his smile journey. In the video, we spoke with Sam and our hygienist, Megan, about today’s treatment.

“Today, we’re going to be doing a scaling and root planing on the left side to get all the tartar and bacteria out. We’re doing this so that we can get those gums back to being structurally sound and support those beautiful teeth.” – Megan.

“I feel like every day when I wake up, you know, I have something to take care of, and that’s really nice too. I brushed my teeth twice a day before, but now when I brush my teeth, I’m like brushing with purpose. Before, I was going through the motions.” – Sam.

Because your body’s not focused on the infection in your mouth, it’ll be able to give the rest of your body the attention that it needs.” – Megan.

After Sam’s Periodontal Treatment

Sam felt amazing after his periodontal treatment at our dental office in Colorado Springs. This is what Sam had to say after his appointment:

“I’m feeling like trillion dollars, doing good. Very good. I mean, I already feel the difference. Even the way people treat me has been different, you know, just getting the tooth decay gone. I feel like it’s made me more approachable, so people are talking to me more and I think taking me more seriously as well. So it’s been amazing. I can’t wait to see what the outcome will be as we progress.”
