Tell Us a Little About Yourself

“My name is Samuel McNamee. I currently work for an agency that does customer service work for one of the largest tech companies in the world.

What Are Your Hobbies and Passions? 

When I have free time, I love to go hiking, rock climbing, camping, just being outside all the time. You could say that I’m a woods type of person. I also like to make music and being on stage. I like to be able to entertain people. At the end of the day, if I can bring a smile to somebody’s face that’s, that’s powerful to me. This is why I think that’s why this experience has been so great for me as well.

What Inspires Your Passion for Music? 

Music has been inspiring me since I was a kid. My buddy and I used to live in a very small town called Rye. There’s not a lot to do out there, no shops or businesses. So, you had to make your fun. He used to have a guitar, and I would write lyrics. We started this in elementary school. He still has sheets of paper of the songs I wrote back then. Music has been something I’ve always wanted to pursue and follow. It’s kind of my heart, I guess, in the world or the way that I can express myself.

What Do You Value Most and Why?

People, I would say that I value people. Even the people who have hurt you or betrayed you or somebody who said something snide to or let you down. You can learn a lot from that and better yourself from it. And then the people who show you love and try to respect and are there for you give you something to look forward to every day. 

So, you know, when I wake up, I think it’s the very first thing that I look forward to personally is having to interact with people for the day and, overall, learn from all of the experiences that surround me. 

What Made You Choose Kissing Camels Family Dentistry?

So I went to a few different Colorado Springs dental offices before. I’m going to be honest. You know, like I kind of conned into a couple of places. I came in, and my teeth were pretty bad and, it felt like there was nothing I could do about it.

I wanted to get dentures, and it seemed like every place that I called tricked me into getting a consultation or evaluation. Many of them would say that they would be able to do oral surgery onsite and then also be able to, you know, do dentures onsite. Nobody was really honest. If they were honest with me and they would’ve just said like, oh no, we don’t do that onsite. I would have been fine with that. I think it’s the fact that they misled me to get me in their door. The atmosphere is everything to me. So I, I tried it, you know, several places. And when I came into Kissing Camels Family Dentistry, the music was the first thing that caught my ear actually.

I was like, wow, this is something that I listened to. It’s actually really neat. Before I even knew that I was going to restorative dentistry, I was committed here at Kissing Camels because the staff has been so amazing, so wonderful. Think communicating very well, and they make sure you feel comfortable with what their game plan is. If you want to make adjustments to the game plan, they’re open to talking about it with you. So, you feel involved with the process. Again that no bad remarks about anywhere else I went previously. This environment and the way that they cared for me have been the best.”

Smile Makeover Giveaway: Part Two

Our Colorado Springs community means the world to us. We love supporting local businesses and providing our patients with the best dental services in Colorado Springs. This year, we wanted to do something extra special and provide one patient with a smile makeover giveaway of their dreams. We chose a local named Sam! His smile makeover journey is extraordinary. Update from Our Colorado Springs Dentists

Our Kissing Camels Family Dentistry team is super excited to start Sam’s treatment. We’re going to be taken care of his cavities. He’s got a lot of dark spots, a lot of decay on his teeth. We’re also going to be taking care of his gum disease. He’s got periodontal disease, which is when you have an infection in your gums. Periodontal disease destroys the foundation of your teeth.

So we’re going to get his gums nice and healthy. Once we get everything cleaned up, get his infection gone, we can move on to step two. We want his foundation to be strong before we work on the aesthetics of his smile. Step two will include cosmetic dentistry, so dental veneers, teeth whitening, Invisalign, etc. We’re super excited to show you how he looks after we clean everything up. Before Sam’s Periodontal Treatment

As you can see, Sam is very eager to get started on the next phase of his smile journey. In the video, we spoke with Sam and our hygienist, Megan, about today’s treatment. 

“Today, we’re going to be doing a scaling and root planing on the left side to get all the tartar and bacteria out. We’re doing this so that we can get those gums back to being structurally sound and support those beautiful teeth.” – Megan.

“I feel like every day when I wake up, you know, I have something to take care of, and that’s really nice too. I brushed my teeth twice a day before, but now when I brush my teeth, I’m like brushing with purpose. Before, I was going through the motions.” – Sam.

Because your body’s not focused on the infection in your mouth, it’ll be able to give the rest of your body the attention that it needs.” – Megan.

After Sam’s Periodontal Treatment

Sam felt amazing after his periodontal treatment at our dental office in Colorado Springs. This is what Sam had to say after his appointment:

“I’m feeling like trillion dollars, doing good. Very good. I mean, I already feel the difference. Even the way people treat me has been different, you know, just getting the tooth decay gone. I feel like it’s made me more approachable, so people are talking to me more and I think taking me more seriously as well. So it’s been amazing. I can’t wait to see what the outcome will be as we progress.”

Sam was so happy to find out that he was the winner of our smile makeover giveaway. Watch his reaction unfold in the interview below.

“Hello! My name is Samuel McNamee, and I am at Kissing Camels Family Dentistry here in Colorado Springs. 

I’m speechless. I don’t know what else to say. I am here to get my teeth fixed, and I feel like a lot of my life, a lot of my life, I was made fun of. I didn’t really get the attention from people, and I guess I felt looked down on. I’ve always been very, self-conscious wanting to smile. So I wanted to get my teeth fixed, and Kissing Camels Family Dentistry is helping me get my teeth restored.”

Q: How Are You Feeling? 

“So, I bet my BPM is probably like 500 – I’m probably shaking the building. I’m at a loss for words. Everything is moving in slow motion but very fast at the same time. I can not…

I’m extremely excited and, you know, to have an opportunity like this – it just blows my mind. It’s just an incredible feeling. The hairs on my arm are standing up the hair all over my body is really standing up, actually. And I’m out of this world, you know, I’m on cloud nine, quite literally.”

Q: What Are You Most Excited About? 

“To be able to smile for my wife. So that when we go out in public that she’ll be proud to be with me.”
