COSMETIC VENEERS IN COLORADO SPRINGS
Veneers are a specialized type of dental prosthetic designed for cosmetic dentistry. They are most commonly made from porcelain ceramic, but can also be made from resin, in some cases. Veneers are wafer-thin, built to “cap” teeth and cover up a variety of cosmetic issues, including chips, stains, unevenly spaced, discolored, or gapped teeth.
- Veneers look and feel natural, so nobody will be able to distinguish your veneers from the rest of your smile.
- The only thing you have to do to care for your veneers is remember to brush and floss as you normally would.
- The veneers treatment process takes only two quick appointments and provides beautiful results.
- Veneers are non-invasive, with no oral surgery required.
The cost of veneers varies widely based on the material you choose for your veneers, the number of veneers you need, your oral health and a number of other factors. Because of this, it’s difficult to provide you with an accurate cost estimate without an appointment at Kissing Camels Family Dentistry.
Wondering if veneers are right for you, or if you can afford them? The best way to find out is by scheduling a cosmetic consultation with Dr. Boals, Dr. Johnson and Dr. Effinger. Our doctors can examine your mouth, help you explore your options for cosmetic dentistry, and find out if veneers are a good option for you.
HOW ARE VENEERS PLACED?
First, Dr. Boals, Dr. Johnson and Dr. Effinger will perform a comprehensive oral exam to ensure that you are a good candidate for veneers. Then, he will clean and numb your mouth, and prepare your teeth by removing a very thin layer of enamel. This layer is equal in thickness to the your veneers, and is removed so that the veneers fit perfectly.
Images and molds are taken of your mouth and sent to an outside dental lab, where your veneers will be manufactured. When your veneers arrive at our office near Fillmore, you’ll come back for your final appointment. Your mouth will be cleaned and disinfected, and Dr. Boals, Dr. Johnson and Dr. Effinger will check the fit and finish of each veneer, to make sure they look perfect. Then, using dental cement, the veneers are placed permanently, completing the procedure and giving you a brand new smile.
CAN VENEERS BE STAINED OR WHITENED?
Resin veneers are inexpensive and fairly durable, but can be stained over time if you do not care for your veneers properly. However, regular brushing and flossing is usually enough to prevent stain buildup.
Porcelain veneers, on the other hand, are made from a completely non-porous ceramic material. This means that stains cannot build up on porcelain veneers, so your smile will continue to look great for years to come.
Neither type of veneer can be whitened traditionally, as peroxide-based whiteners do not work on the resin or porcelain material. In some cases, though, stained resin veneers can be buffed and polished to remove a thin layer of material to reveal the whiter resin underneath.
